Kitchen as art
The Museum of Modern Art in Manhatten has a new exhibit featuring the kitchen. The show, called Counter Space, features the iconic “Frankfurt Kitchen” designed in Post WW1 Germany for public housing. This new approach to kitchen design transformed the kitchen, and according to MoMA, “kitchens have continued to articulate, and at times actively challenge, our relationship to the food we eat, popular attitudes toward the domestic role of women, family life, consumerism, and even political ideology”.
Who knew a kitchen could do all that, plus make our toast?
