How To Get Your Own Backyard Retreat
Last year I wrote an article about pre-fab cabins that can be used as backyard retreats or as vacation properties. That post has consistently been the most popular ever since. Obviously people are interested in having either a second home or more living space in their backyard. If you live in Seattle, backyard ADUs (Additional Dwelling Units) have been approved for a couple of years. Here are the requirements. With all the prefabricated options available it’s easier than ever to add a backyard studio/office/guest-house/mother-in-law. Here is a slideshow from Sunset magazine of a couple who built a small off-the-grid cabin in the Oregon wilderness. However, it would be just as easy (actually, it would be easier) to put one in your backyard.
